Citizens Academy

Purpose

The Monument Police Department offers a no cost 8 week Citizens Police Academy program that is open to all who live or work in the Tri-Lakes area. The Monument Police Department believes that this is a great opportunity for the citizens of the Tri-Lakes area to see firsthand what law enforcement is all about.

The Academy is designed to increase understanding between citizens and the police through education. It also gives the police officers another opportunity to interact positively with the community, which is a fundamental base of Community Policing.

During the 8 week academy, participants will learn about the following, plus much more:
  • Community policing
  • Computer forensics
  • Criminal law
