[ARCHIVED] MPD's Officer Degenhart Receives Life Saving Award

On April 3rd, 2023 at approximately 1837 hours, Officer Degenhart and Palmer Lake Officer Ramirez responded to the El Paso County Sheriff District One Red Rocks Rd. and the National Forest to check on a suicidal party. Upon arrival Officers Degenhart and Ramirez began searching for the party. Officers heard noises and began going towards the sound. The Officers found the party hanging from a tree with a rope around his neck. Officer Degenhart lifted the party while Officer Ramirez cut the rope. Officers Degenhart and Ramirez’s quick thinking and teamwork saved a life that day. Officer Degenhart’s actions reflected great credit upon himself and the Monument Police Department.
