SUMMER 2021

Tri-Lakes 4th (on the 3rd) of July Celebration

Get ready for a full day of July 4th fun in the Monument area on the 3rd of July. The schedule of events is available on our website. Beginning at 7 am on Saturday, July 3 there is a fun run, pancake breakfast, parade,  street fair, food vendors, kids' games, live music and a family friendly beer garden until 5 pm.

Parking in downtown Monument will be extremely limited and many of the streets will be closed from 6:00am-4:00pm for the parade and street fair. Parade spectators are encouraged to use the parking available at Lewis-Palmer High School
with shuttles running from 7:30am-9:30am and 11:00am-3:00pm back and forth from the corner of 2nd and Adams Streets to Lewis-Palmer High School.

Spectators are prohibited from claiming a spot to view the parade before 7 pm on July 2. To prevent damage to our irrigation system and grass, it is prohibited to stake anything into the ground or leave tarps or blankets on grass areas overnight. Items placed on public property are left at the owner’s risk and do not create a guarantee that the “claimed” area will remain available to the person or persons who claimed the area.

Due to the heat and crowds, we encourage you to leave your pets at home.

Fireworks are not permitted within Town limits.

Please visit our website for more information and we look forward to celebrating the 4th with the best small town event!

Town Survey Results

The Town conducted three surveys with Monument residents.

The goals of the surveys were to gauge resident’s opinions and to use the data to plan and prioritize the town budget. We also surveyed residents on their opinion of the Monument Police Department and a proposal to increase funding and changing governance from Statutory to Home Rule.

Keep America Beautiful

Help Us Keep Monument Beautiful

  • To protect the health and safety of the public, it is important to keep streets, alleys and sidewalks free of obstructions, litter, and other material.
  • Property owners must trim and prune trees and bushes that overhang or obstruct streets and right-of-ways.
  • Property owners must cut and remove weeds and yard waste that may become a fire hazard.
  • Property owners must also prevent rubbish, garbage or waste material from accumulating on their property or sidewalks, regardless of who put the material there.
  • Property owners are responsible for maintaining the sidewalks adjacent to their property. Keep your sidewalks safe to ensure debris, dirt, and snow do not pose a hazard to pedestrians. You must also repair cracks and other damage  to allow for safe passage for your neighbors and to our businesses.

Water Conservation

Water Conservation Helps Our Community

Water conservation helps our community responsibly use this valuable resource. We are currently experiencing high temperatures in our semi-arid climate and increased water demand. We can maintain healthy landscapes in our community with responsible watering practices.

Implementing water restrictions and following water conservation tips is one way we can responsibly and efficiently use water for the benefit of our community.

  • Please follow any water restrictions put in place by your water service provider.
  • Watering before 5 am and after 9 pm reduces evaporation.
  • Don’t let water pool on hard surfaces or flow down gutters.
  • Repair leaking sprinkler systems as soon as possible.
  • Use a shut-off nozzle when washing anything with a hose.
  • Clean hard surfaces (such as driveways, sidewalks and patios) with water only if there is a public health and safety concern.

NEW TOWN PROJECTS

The town is beginning several infrastructure projects in Monument. Town staff secured funding for approximately twenty major water projects, without raising fees to our customers.  Several of these water projects will begin this summer to include:

  • The Raspberry Lane water main replacement will improve the water service to customers in this subdivision and reduce the number of repairs.

  • The Well Number 3 Re-drill Project began in April and it is anticipated to be completed later this summer.  This project will increase the water production in our water system.

In addition to water projects, roads around town will be repaired and new sidewalks will be installed on Beacon Lite Road from Monument Meadows Trailer Park to Safeway.

To read more about these projects, please visit our website.
